Vice Principal

Mick Berry is Vice Principal responsible for the pastoral system within the Academy, staff appraisal and writing the whole school timetable. Mick started at HASU in January 2021, since then he has introduced whole new behaviour and reporting procedures and protocols, helping to improve on the already amazing behaviour.  Mick line manages the personal development curriculum, safeguarding and pastoral systems working very closely with the safeguarding team and Heads of Year.  He loves teaching Maths.

Mick studied Mathematics with Finance (BSc) at the University of Leeds and also achieved a PGCE at the same University.  Mick is a fellow of the Charter of London Teachers.

Prior to HASU, Mick was an Assistant Headteacher at an Outstanding school for 5 years, with whole school responsibility for safeguarding, pastoral, pupil premium and writing the whole school timetable.

Mick is a keen sportsman, often found out running, on football and cricket pitches, although he admits his best years are behind him.  He enjoys spending time with his three young children.
