The Harris Academy Sutton Sixth Form
From the outset our families and students have demanded an educational pathway that drives beyond GCSEs, Vocational Qualifications and the end of Key Stage 4. From September 2023 we will welcome our first cohort of Sixth Form students to HASU6, our vision for post-16 education at the Academy.
What will the curriculum look like?
A highly academic and demanding suite of A-Levels will be offered, with a broad range of subjects on offer. Our ambition is to allow students to progress to the apprenticeships, college courses and universities of their choice and which in turn will unlock the final path on the routes to their chosen carers.
What support will be on offer?
An expert pastoral team will offer advice and support to our students and their families. This support will cover both the technical challenges that surround applications to further education institutions, and also the personal challenges all student face as they mature into great young adults. We will also look at how study skills develop with age and the greater roles that personal organisation and responsibility play as students begin to take more ownership for their own learning and progress.
Is it all about A-Levels?
From a qualifications point of view, yes! We make no apology for setting out with the highest of ambitions. We also recognise that alongside qualifications, our students will need a rounded and balanced perspective on the world they plan to help shape in the future. We will offer a choice of other, non-examined courses that our students will be able to study. These will be aimed at developing the whole person, building confidence and character during their two years of study.
