PDC in Year 11

The most important method through which we deliver the Personal Development Curriculum in Year 11 is Tutor Time.

All students in Y11 continue to have a daily Tutor Time session. These sessions take place after Lunch, for 30 minutes.

Y11 TT Schedule 2022 23

Similar to Years 7 through to 10, the regular weekly schedule includes:

  • DEAR
  • Citizenship and Religion Philsophy & Ethics
  • PSHE & Healthy Harris
  • Assembly.

Furthermore, some of these strands are adapted and designed specifically to support Y11 through their final year of Key Stage 4.

Citizenship includes sessions on opportunities beyond Y11 such as 6th form, Colleges and Apprenticeships as well as how to prepare to make these decisions.

Religion, Philosophy and Ethics provides our students with an opportunity to continue to enrich their understanding of world religions and ethical themes, widening their knowledge and supporting them in developing their spiritual, moral, social and cultural capital.

PSHE and Healthy Harris run within the same thread, all of which cover topics which help prepare and safeguard our students for life outside the Academy. There is a particular focus within this curriculum on students managing their mental health and wellbeing during this phase of their lives.

Our Assembly programme continues to help mould the bright, young minds of our students preparing them to lead a fulfilling life that they feel fully equipped to navigate.

As well as all of this, the Y11 curriculum includes a new thread – Learning to Learn. Learning to Learn explores metacognition and challenges students to think about the way their learn, preparing them to revise for their GCSE’s and beyond. This thread covers study skills, revision techniques and how coping strategies during exam season.
