Rewards
At Harris Academy Sutton our rewards system celebrates the achievements and successes of our students inside and outside the classroom. HASU students will be recognised and praised for their achievements, progress, behaviour and attendance, as well as their individual contribution to the Academy.
Our rewards system is not only used to celebrate our students’ success, but also to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
How will my child be rewarded during lessons?
During lessons we have variety of ways to reward good behaviour and positive learning attitudes. This helps to ensure students are demonstrating the right commitment to their studies.
Each lesson is an opportunity for students to receive merits from their teacher.
Merits are given for behaviours such as (but not limited to):
-
Being pro-active
-
Being productive
-
Being prompt
-
Being polite
-
Being prepared
Classroom rewards may also be in the form of post cards sent home, positive praise from the teacher or sharing outstanding student work with the class or other classes within the department.
What will happen with all the merits my child has earned?
Student merits are collected and tracked and once they have accumulated enough, they will be given HASU tokens that can be spent in our “HASU Merit shop”, every half-term, on a reward of their choice.
How will my child be rewarded for having 100% attendance?
Students that achieve 100% attendance in a term will be recognised by their Heads of Year through assemblies and rewards to recognise their commitment to school and their learning.
How will my child be rewarded for having a clean sheet of no detentions?
Students who have maintained a clean sheet of no detentions for the academic year will also be recognised by their Heads of Year at the end of the academic year.
