Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG) and World Related Learning
The HASU Careers Programme is a key component of our Student Futures planning, designed to offer exceptional, tailored career guidance to every student. Aligned with the Gatsby Good Careers Guidance Benchmarks, the programme ensures a comprehensive and personalised approach, providing students with the support and resources to make informed decisions about their future pathways.
Our Careers Motto is:Aspire. Acquire. Achieve.
We ensure that Careers Education is seamlessly integrated across all subject areas and year groups. Students will become familiar with the HASU Careers logo, as we explore diverse and exciting career opportunities within the world of work. Additionally, dedicated time for Careers Education will be incorporated into Citizenship tutor time sessions, where the Careers logo will serve as a consistent feature.

Our Vision & Programme

At Harris Academy Sutton, every year group benefits from a dedicated careers focus, embedded through a variety of strategies and delivered in collaboration with a wide range of external stakeholders. We are committed to empowering students to make informed decisions at key transition points in their education. Our approach fosters a deep passion for their favourite subjects whilst increasing awareness of the diverse career pathways these subjects can lead to. We also educate students on the full spectrum of further learning opportunities, supporting them in selecting the most appropriate pathways to meet their individual needs, aspirations and potential.

Careers education, information, advice and guidance at HASU
We teach careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) through a variety of methods at the Academy for example:
-
IID Drop Down Days dedicated to careers exploration
-
Careers-focused assemblies that inspire and inform
-
Explicit careers education within the Citizenship strand of our Personal Development Curriculum
-
Curriculum-linked careers content including up to date labour market Information
-
Educational visits with a careers lens – for example, Year 7 students attend a pantomime and study stagecraft, exploring careers in theatre
-
Employer encounters that provide real-world insights and inspiration
-
Visits to further and higher education institutions helping students explore future pathways
-
Year 10 Work Experience offering hands-on exposure to the world of work
-
Flash Internships at KS3 providing meaningful work-related experiences
-
Careers guidance meetings opportunities to meet with our Careers Advisor from Years 9-12
-
Engagement with Unifrog ensuring students have access to high quality careers information and tools

Unifrog
Unifrog is a careers platform that is used at the academy. All pupils have their own account to record a host of careers related activities for example:
-
Encounters with employers
-
Meetings with the Careers Adviser
-
Recording their skills
-
Visits to other education providers
-
Recording work experience placement
Unifrog can be found here.
Assessing Impact
Once the Citizenship lessons on Careers have been completed in the spring term, students are set a quiz via Satchel One to test their knowledge and understanding. This allows us to have confidence in students' understanding. We also use data from Unifrog and Compass Plus to review our Careers Programme to ensure the offer for our students is the best it can be.
Labour Market Information
We encourage all students to regularly access the most up to date information about careers and pathways. Below, students can find a brilliant tool from 'LMI For All' that helps them to investigate information about a wide range of careers.
The Skillsometer
The Skillsometer has been designed for those who are not sure what jobs they may be interested in. Thinking about skills, interests and the ways these can link to jobs can be a helpful first step in identifying possible future jobs. The widget below allows students to take this quiz whenever they might wish.
Working with visitors, external agencies and our community
As an academy at the heart of its community, we are commuted to ensuring everyone is part of our careers journey – including staff, students, parents and carers, local employers, and further and higher educational providers.
In line with the latest update from Good Career Guidance: The Next 10 Years (2025), we continue to welcome contributions from external organisations, employers, employees, Further Education providers, Higher Education providers and training providers to enrich our Careers Programme.
If you would like to get involved – whether it be delivering an assembly, participating in our IID Drop Down Days, or offering a Work Experience placement, we are interested in hearing from you.
