Year 9 Options

During Year 9 all students select their preferences for the qualifications they wish to work towards at Key Stage 4. The vast majority of students are encouraged to choose the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects in addition to choosing options from a wide variety of Key Stage 4 subjects.

The Academy’s options process ensures that all students follow a curriculum that is right for them, while remaining as broad and academically rich as possible.

Options Subject Information Evening

In the Spring term, there will be an event for students to attend with their parents and carers where they will be able to speak to option subject teachers who will be able to have more detailed conversations about what each GCSE entails. In readiness for this, students will be provided with an Options Booklet with detailed information about the courses on offer.

This will take place on Thursday 19th March 2026 from 4.30pm-6.30pm

The Options Process

After Year 9 Options Evening, students and their families will be invited to consider their options preferences carefully and complete an Options Preferences Form which will be due on Friday 27th March 2026

The school will then build an options timetable around students' preferences.

Options will then be confirmed in the summer term, subject to changes to the timetable.
