Alysia Haughton-Nicholls is Vice Principal with responsibility for pastoral care which is includes but is not limited to behaviour, safeguarding and SEND. She works closely with the DSL, SENDCo, Heads of Year and Behaviour Manager to ensure the safety, wellbeing and sense of belonging of our students. Alysia is also responsible for the careers programme for students and the Initial Teacher Training Programme.
When she was Assistant Principal at the Academy, Alysia had responsibly for the Personal Development Curriculum. Alysia has been at HASU since it opened and has created and developed the Academy’s amazing Careers Programme, Enrichment Programme and Educational Visits. Alysia has also designed an engaging and challenging Biology Curriculum to harness a love of learning the discipline.
Alysia studied Biochemistry (Medical) (BSc) at the University of Surrey, completed her PGCE through the Leadership Development Programme with Teach First and achieved a Masters in Educational Leadership from the Institute of Education, UCL.
Previously, Alysia was the Achievement Coordinator for Year 7 at The Quest Academy in the London Borough of Croydon where she worked closely with the Pastoral Director.
Alysia has been a competitive swimmer and now enjoys recreational swimming. She has a keen interest in sudoku and values spending quality time with family and friends.
