Head of Year 9
Matt is Head of Year 8 at the academy. He joined HASU in September 2020, initially as Head of Year 9 and helped bring the school's first year group through the GCSE options process.
He studied through the Open University in his spare time whilst working in a local Carshalton school full time, and built his degree from scratch focussing on a mixture of Physical, Human and Environmental Geography modules.
A fun fact is that Matt has never actually ever left school! Prior to working at HASU he began his education career as a Teaching Assistant from the moment he finished Sixth form working with students with a range of needs, before going on to teach Geography and ICT even prior to completing his teacher training. As a qualified teacher at previour schools he has worked as a Geography teacher and Transition Coordinator overseeing the process of new Year 7s arriving.
Matt is a thrill seeker and loves travelling to different amusement parks all over the globe, and enjoys video games.
