Assistant Principal SENDCo

Mrs Brown is the SENDCo at Harris Academy Sutton. She is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the school's SEND policy, the identification of children with special educational needs and co-ordinating provision for children with SEND. Mrs Brown also liaises with parents, the local authority and other agencies to coordinate the provision for SEND students across the school. Mrs Brown is passionate about ensuring our SEND learners receive the best possible outcomes to be successful in their next steps after HASU. 

Mrs Brown read Sports Studies (BSc) at Southampton University, she achieved her PGCE in Secondary Education and her Masters in Education (MEd) from St. Mary's University in Twickenham. Mrs Brown also achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs (NASENCO) from Bath Spa University in 2019. 

This is the fifth school Mrs Brown has worked in moving from PE teacher to Head of Year, Key Stage Leader and most recently Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion and SENCO at a state school in Croydon. Mrs Brown has taught a range of subjects over her career but remains in love with her main subject, PE, where she enjoys helping children develop practically and getting out in the sunshine! 

Outside of work Mrs Brown enjoys playing netball regularly in a local league as well as spending time with her family and friends.
