New Principal Designate appointed

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed our Principal Designate.

James FisherJames Fisher is currently Head of School at the “outstanding” (Ofsted) Chobham Academy, which is part of the Harris Federation and based in the Olympic East Village.

He said:

“I am thrilled to be appointed as Principal Designate of Harris Academy Sutton. Building a new school in the heart of this community is a truly unique opportunity and I am determined that our new academy will flourish as it forges links with the London Cancer Hub and the wide range of local communities on our doorstep.

“September 2018 will see our academy set out to deliver a balanced and exciting education in a modern, innovative and welcoming environment. Our students will have access to a full range of specialist facilities designed to promote high levels of academic achievement both during and outside of the regular school day.

“Specialising in Science and Enterprise, Harris Academy Sutton will encourage students to develop an inquisitive nature and the resilience to deal with new challenges, which are the hallmarks of the scientific method. We will also recognise the role that lateral and creative thinking plays in developing young minds, and support this through an inspiring and forward-thinking approach to our delivery of the arts.

“As an experienced school leader of the ‘outstanding’ (Ofsted) Chobham Academy, I am passionate about working with young people as they look to develop character and personality alongside their academic achievement. My vision is one in which all our students work hard to fulfil their own dreams and develop new skills and interests as they progress through the academy - and into society as happy, self-confident adults.

“I look forward to meeting and working alongside you in the future.”
